HALL COSTUME CONTEST

- Please familiarize yourself with all of Ancient City Con’s Costume & Props Rules, Policies & Procedures before entering. They are found here
- Signup for the costume contest will take place at the registration table where your costume/outfit and any props or weapons are subject to approval by Ancient City Con Staff members. Note: This has nothing to do with contest judging only as means to pre-screen for convention rules compliance.
- Group entries are allowed. Maximum size on a group entry is 12.
- You may enter only once. Meaning you cannot be a part of a group, then change into a different individual costume, and have a friend model another costume that you made while you claim any prize.
- The costume contest will take place on Sat. July 10th. Final presentation at 4:00PM. Winners will be announced at 5:00PM.
- A photo will be taken of the contestant to be used for voting. We do this so that attendees who don’t see contestants around the convention because they are involved in other activities can still “see” and vote for their favorite. You DO NOT have to have your photo taken if you request it and it will not prevent you from entering the contest.
- No cosplay, skits, or karaoke (there is a separate contest for this). Contestants will have the opportunity to display their costumes on stage before voting ends at 4:00PM. We will read out loud to the audience any notes about the costume display that the contestant has written and submitted at the time of registration (i.e. where it’s from, how it was made etc.). This will take place at 4:00PM on Saturday July 18th.
- There will not be “stand alone” judging for props. Costumes must also be worn (i.e. not on a mannequin).
JUDGING
- At Ancient City Con, every paid attendee is a “judge” and gets an opportunity to vote for all contests. All paid attendees will receive voting cards in which to vote for their favorite contestants and leave comments if they wish.
- Votes will be collected at registration in the voting box. Votes will be counted only after all contestants have presented their display.
- ncient City Con Staff members will only vote in the contest to break any ties that occur.
- Judging will not be broken down into categories (i.e. Anime, Movie, Comic Book etc….).
- Prizes and trophy awards will be given for First Place, Second Place, Third Place, Best Group, Best Youngling (age 12 & under).
- You must be present in order to claim any placing or prizes. If not present, awards and prizes will be given to the next eligible (by highest number of votes) contestant who is present.
- Contestants may pick up any voting cards with a written comment on them after the winners have been announced as well as their “Hall” photo.
- Hall photos are also used online in the Ancient City Con Gallery. Please indicate if you do not wish to have your photo posted online.
