ANIME TRACK

In 2010, Ancient City Con is working to give fans of Japanese animation and popular culture more programming for their genre than previous years.  The Anime Track (sponsored by Wasabi Anime) offers a wide variety of things to do for recent fans and wizened Otaku.  If you have any questions regarding the events below, feel free to contact Wasabi Anime directly via email: info@wasabianime.com.

CONTESTS

The ACC Cosplay Contest: Cosplay, short for “costume play”, is type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea.  This year,  attendees will have a chance strut their stuff on stage for as Ancient City Con presents its first ever Cosplay Contest.  Rules coming soon!

Saturday, Time TBD (CityTerrace 7) – 2 hours

The Hallway Costume Costume (run by Ancient City Con):  Convention fans love dressing up – and at Ancient City Con, they also enjoy actively participating in picking the costume contest winners.  Just like previous years, ACC’s costume contest winners are chosen by convention attendees. Click here for information and rules.

PANELS

DARE! The Transformers Panel Ultimate: Noted Interweb Celebristars Tom Croom and Joey Snackpants have hosted panels with the voice of Grimlock, sung backup with Stan Bush on a live performance of “The Touch,” and have spoken about Transformers at (literally) dozens of fan conventions in and around Florida.  Come join them as they discuss the good and bad of Michael Bay and learn why (without a doubt) Beast Wars sucks.

Day/Time TBD (CityTerrace 12) – 1 hour

History of Florida Anime Fandom: Did you know that a large portion of anime fandom has its roots thanks to some college kids with a VCR and Amiga computer in Orlando, Florida?  Learn the history (and legends) behind the explosion of anime conventions in the Sunshine State that took place over the past decade.

Day/Time TBD (CityTerrace 12) – 1 hour

How to Win at Cosplay & Costume Contests: The Girls of Wasabi Anime have won awards at major anime conventions across Georgia and Florida including Anime Festival Orlando, JACON, and
MegaCon.  They even took home “Best of Show” in the Masquerade for two years at Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia – the largest fan convention in the southeast.  Come join a frank discussion about what the judges look for when entering contests and how to avoid common mistakes that many costumers make when going before on stage.

Day/Time TBD (CityTerrace 12) – 1 hour

Your Favorite Anime Sucks! with Joey Snackpants: Anime fandom’s “grumpy old man” will take questions and explains why each anime you have watched most likely sucks.  Take part in this group discussion (lead my Mr. Snackpants) and learn what anime to watch that are a cut above the stuff you’ve seen on Cartoon Network.

Day/Time TBD (CityTerrace 12) – 1 hour

VIEWING ROOM

We will be running a viewing room of popular anime (and some you may have never seen) all day Saturday and Sunday.  The anime viewing room is located in a room on the 3rd Floor Sky Bridge.  It is on your right just before you enter the Terrace Pavilion and is right next to the business center.  Look for signs out front!

Schedule coming soon.
